The modern Renault Laguna was introduced in 2001 and comes as
a 5 door hatchback and estate. The newer model Laguna has a more
executive look and was the first car to be awarded five stars
for passenger safety in NCAP crash tests.
The Laguna is very spacious and passengers can feel comfortable.
The inside is nothing special, the only word to describe it would
be 'nice', it's not extremely stylish but not hideous either.
This family car handles well, it has a good grip on the road and
it's confident and sturdy when tackling corners. Renault have
thought about the practicality when doing this design, they have
given it good storage and luggage space, with a decent sized boot
and small compartments dotted around the car.
Reliability is standard, electrics may fail, leaving you a bit
shipwrecked. Other than the electrics the Renault shouldn't give
you many problems.
Like
all Renault's, the safety is exceptional, the Laguna was the first
car to get five stars in the Euro NCAP test.
The
Renault Laguna comes in 1.6, 1.8, 1.9, and 2.0 litre engines.
The smaller engines, 1.6 and 1.8 aren't quite upto the challenge
of powering a car of this size, the 1.9 diesel and 2.0 litre are
much better and give a higher quality performance.
With both the petrol and diesel engines, the Laguna has a good
fuel economy. Overall this would make an admirable company car.
